Statement of Understanding for Parents

  • All head coaches have current primary teaching qualifications and specialise in coaching and caring for children in the primary years.
  • Children will undertake a range of sporting activities that are age appropriate.
  • Programs aim to foster the development of fundamental sport skills, teamwork, social interaction, fitness and resilience.
  • There is always a strong emphasis on making the activities fun, enjoyable and safe for all children.
  • A full risk assessment of each program will been undertaken by directors to identify potential risks and strategies will be implemented to manage children with known medical conditions.
  • This information will be communicated to all staff prior to the program and the risk management document will be present on each day of the camp.
  • It is the parents’ responsibility to provide any relevant medical information about their child as well as to provide any specific medication required. Head coaches must be notified that a child has the medication and be given clear directions as to how and when it is to be administered and whether the child can self-administer.
  • There will be a qualified first aid staff member present at all times who will attend appropriately to all medical issues.
  • It is suggested that children wear appropriate sport clothes for the duration of each program.
  • Children will be given clear instructions that the staff expects of them. In particular, appropriate social behaviour and safety procedures.
  • I am aware of the inherent physical risks in taking part in all the activities.
  •  Where children’s behaviour places themselves or others at risk, parents may be contacted and asked to come and collect their child from the program.
  • Staff will remain in close proximity to children during breaks, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Please inform staff via enrolment forms of any allergies or restricting medical conditions that your child may have that may impede his successful interaction during the program.
  • Primary Sports Active promotes a nut reduction policy and requests that no products containing nuts are brought to the clinic.
  • We ask that children are dropped at the ovals no earlier than 20 minutes prior to the commencement of each day’s program and collected no later than 20 minutes after the completion of the program.
